Building Stewards

Goal 

The Building Stewards play an important role in our community. They serve as the primary contact for helping residents get personally prepared for a disaster. They also assist residents in coping with common emergencies by being a good neighbor ready to help, and remain calm in any emergency.

Be a Volunteer Building Steward

Your responsibilities as a Building Steward include:

Before a Disaster

• ​Encourage your neighbors to become personally prepared for emergencies.​​

• Distribute information from EPG about emergency preparation to the residents in your building.

• If requested, assist your neighbor in making their personal preparedness plan. Help a neighbor think through their personal planning.

• ​Attend EPG meetings to learn more (optional).

After a Disaster

• Check on residents in the building and report urgent needs to the Phase Captain*.

• Complete the Resident Survey form and deliver to the Phase Captain*.

• Remain calm and return to your building to support the residents until help arrives.

*Phase Captains

Phase Captains are Building Stewards who serve as a support for the Building Stewards in their Phase or Partial Phase within Landmark.  During a disaster response, Phase Captains will conduct a resident survey in their own assigned buildings, then meet the Building Stewards at a designated location to collect the Resident Survey forms and provide them to the Tactical Teams and First Aid Teams for follow up response.
