The Mission of the Emergency Preparedness Service Group (EPG) is to encourage and assist all residents of Huntington Landmark to be personally prepared for emergencies of all types, primarily major disasters such as earthquakes.
The goal of the Emergency Preparedness Service Group (EPG) is to establish a resilient community where all residents are equipped with the knowledge, resources, and support networks necessary to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from potential disasters, including earthquakes, coastal hazards, and power outages. This initiative will prioritize the safety and well-being of our most vulnerable residents by addressing their unique needs, promoting self-sufficiency through preparedness planning and emergency kit creation, ensuring access to timely and accessible information, and fostering a strong culture of community support.
Who We Are
The Emergency Preparedness Service Group is a team of resident volunteers who serve our community by educating residents to be personally prepared. EPG Teams consist of:
Incident Coordinators
Building Stewards
First Aid Team
Tactical Teams: Planning, Operations, Logistics
EPG volunteers include members previously or currently trained in physical healthcare, mental wellness, first aid, Red Cross training, CERT training.
What We Do
Emergency Preparedness Service Group provides knowledge and resources to help residents prepare themselves, their pets and their household in case of an emergency or disaster. Personal preparation is key to knowing how to manage emergency situations before they happen.
In the case of a major disaster event, the EPG Incident Coordinator will assess and determine if the EPG Disaster Response Plan will be activated. (See Emergency Response tab). The group has plans and limited supplies for first-aid treatment, triage, communications and pet care reunification.
Did You Know?
The EPG Service Group meets once a month usually on the third Monday at 1 pm in MPR 1 to discuss our agenda and educate residents about these emergencies. All are invited. Check Landmark Living for more information on meeting topics.
EPG has helpful articles in Landmark Living each month on topics important to your safety and well-being.
You'll find helpful, informative articles in Landmark Living each month. It's crucial that every resident is informed, prepared and confident and has a plan in case of a major event. We share information on emergency readiness, first aid, pet emergency preparedness, protection from scams and more.
Connecting with Our Neighbors
Building a neighborhood community is vital. In case of a major event (disaster, earthquake, etc.), it's important that we know our neighbors. Say hello, introduce yourself, take some freshly baked cookies to their door, share phone numbers, plan a casual get-together. These are great ways to strengthen neighborly bonds. Does your neighbor have pets that might need help? Would they need physical assistance? Sometimes a shared challenge like a disaster can truly bring us together.
Friendly neighbor suggestions:
Friday night "Wine Nights"
Monthly or weekly outdoor get-togethers
"Welcome to Summer Potluck", and an "End of Summer Potluck"
